SFLA_WEEKEND_PSTR_TOPRINTThe SF Bay Area Leather Alliance today announced the official lineup for Leather Alliance Weekend 2016. Ten events, including the Mr. San Francisco Leather Contest and the 50th Annual SF Leather Community Awards, will keep attendees busy from March 4th – 6th.

“The Leather Alliance is honored to host and produce this Weekend’s events,” says Dahn Van Laarz, president of the Leather Alliance. “2015 is the 50th Year of the San Francisco Leather Community Awards – a milestone celebrating our continued strength through changing generations in the SF Leather, Kink and Motorcycling communities.”  Dahn adds, “The Mr. San Francisco Leather Contest, now in its 38th year and with 10 contestants, is another example of the vitality of San Francisco’s Leather & kink scene”.

The SF Leather Alliance App—available for iOS, Android, and Web at www.leatherallianceweekend.org—will keep attendees up to the minute with details of the entire weekend.

Leather Alliance weekend kicks off Friday, March 4th at 5 p.m. at Mr. S Leather with the Mr. SF Leather Contest Meet and Greet featuring the contestants, judges and staff for the 2016 contest. At 7 p.m. is the Community Roast/Tribute of Gary Virginia at Beatbox SF, produced by Ray Tilton and Donna Sachet. From 8 p.m. til 1 a.m., men can enjoy a down and dirty play party hosted by legendary men’s group The 15 Association at Alchemy SF Dungeon.

Saturday March 5th at the Center for Sex and Culture (1349 Mission Street) starts with a slate of educational programs focused on cultural diversity and storytelling in our community. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. is “Payasos: Leather, Laughter, and Latino in L.A. in discussion with Patrick Mulcahey.” From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Spike, will show by example how we explore oral histories with icons of our community in a seminar titled “The Story of YOU: Giving and Getting a Great Oral History.”

At 6:30 p.m. the ballroom at the Hotel Whitcomb opens for socializing and the silent auction, with the Mr. San Francisco Leather 2016 Contest starting at 7:30 p.m. This year will feature a record 10 contestants representing SF kink-friendly businesses and groups. Nile Eckhoff (Mr. Daddy’s Barbershop Leather 2014) is the new producer for this year’s contest for the Alliance.

”San Francisco is the Leather & kink capital of the world, and I’m excited to help take Mr. San Francisco Leather to a new level,” says Nile. After the contest a victory party will be held at the winner’s bar, or the Powerhouse SF if the new Mr. SF Leather 2016 is not sponsored by a bar.

On Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the 50th Annual Leather Community Brunch and Awards will be held at SF Oasis.  The awards are given for events, community leaders, organizations, and businesses who were active in the previous calendar year. Community nominations and balloting is held during the two months leading up to the awards.

The SF Eagle victory beerbust follows, from 3 to 6 p.m., and the weekend wraps up with a Play Party at Alchemy from 5 to 10 p.m. open to anyone not male-identified, hosted by the SF girls of Leather and The Exiles.

The Mr. San Francisco Leather Contest and Leather Alliance Weekend would not be possible without the support of the volunteers, businesses, community groups, and organizations that make up vibrant San Francisco Leather Community. 2016 Sponsors so far include Elbow Grease Lube, Mr. S Leather, CLAW (Cleveland Leather Annual Weekend), and Folsom Street Events. Sponsorship opportunities for this year are still available, with info at leatherallianceweekend.org
