Steve Jirgl, Mr. Friendly SF
His life has brought him to this point, a remarkable past has molded Steve Jirgl into a confident, bright, and caring man, who stands in the midst of bringing Friendship, Pride and Unity back to the Gay Community. It started back Fifty years ago in a small town smack dab in the middle of Wisconsin! He grew up in a family of five boys and two girls with him being 5th youngest. Steve left home at the age of 19 and joined the Military (Army). He served one in South Korea and the rest of his time in California. He came out to his family at the age of 23. Worked for the Post Office for 10.5 years. Steve is now a Facilities Manager and been one for 13 years. Very dedicated to the gay community. He started to do fundraising in 2004. He was also appointed a Board member at MCC. He worked with the Homeless, doing Toy drives, did SF Aids Walk for 12 years. Steve joined the Leather community about 9 years ago, doing the Leather walks for 9 years. He helped coordinate Mr. Heartthrob for two years, ran dozens of Beer Bust for different organization’s. He also worked with the Lions Club for 3 years. He has worked the Gay Pride, Dore Alley, Folsom and Castro Street Fairs for multiple years. He is part of the Mama’s Family as “Mama’s Sexy Back”.
